before的中文意思 ?【英语词语辨析】

Ago和before都有“以前”的意思，很多初学者对其用法混淆不清，觉得难以掌握。下面就此两词作一简要辨析讲解：

ago和before的区别：

1.ago一般作副词；而before可作副词，连词、介词。如：two hours ago，three days before, before he comes,before yesterday

2.ago总是与表示时间的名词或形容词连用，不单独使用；而before可以单独使用。如：

five minutes ago；long ago；

He was here before. (此句中

before 不能用ago替换，但可以说He was here three days ago)

3. before后可接名词表示时间，ago则不能。且before之后只能接表示时间点的名词，而不能接表示时间段的名词。如：before liberation; before

yesterday; before three days(x)

4. 表示事情发生在“从此刻算起若干时间以前”,用ago;表示事情发生在“从过去某时间算起若干时间以前”,用

before。如：

He left his home village a month ago;

He told me that he had left his home village a month before.

5.表示在某一点时间或事件之前时，只用before不用ago。这种用法是将

before当作介词或连词使用。ago不具备此种功能。如：

before 3 o'clock；(介词)

before the incident；(介词)

before your mother finished her

housework (连)

It is expected that this factory will be finished before the year 2022. （介）

这个工厂有望在2022年以前完工。

以上的before均不能用ago。

6.before可用来表示位置，意思是“在…之前”，其反义词为behind；ago则不能。如：He is standing before Mary.

7.before可用于表示顺序或排列的“在…之前”或“居于…之前”，其反义词为after；ago则不能。如：

Three comes before four.
